Description
Tip/Fun-Fact: Along this hike there are two historical and cultural Excursion destinations for a detour: The Karmel Mayerling and the Lower Austrian Top Excursion Destinations Heiligenkreuz Abbey
The 39 km long circular hike "G'schichten aus dem Wienerwald. The hiking trail" tells of the cultural and historical significance of this special region in the middle of the Vienna Woods Biosphere Reserve in two scenically varied stages.
The first stage starts in Baden and leads along the much-sung about romantic "Wegerl im Helenental" along the Schwechat to Alland, where the second stage leads back to Baden via Heiligenkreuz and Siegenfeld.
Excursion destinations, such as those in the imperial city of Baden, Heiligenkreuz Abbey or the Carmel Mayerling, are just some of the numerous highlights, which are described at a total of 35 stations with interesting anecdotes by author Gabriele Hasmann.
Gourmets will definitely get their money's worth on this hike, as there are not only numerous idyllic places to visit, but also several traditional hosts who invite you to linger and enjoy their culinary delights.
Watch out children! Families can look forward to three very special "nosey tours" along the circular hike. These shorter circular trails, adapted for children and starting from Baden, Heiligenkreuz and Alland respectively, will delight them with exciting discoveries about the "Stories from the Vienna Woods".

Route description G´schichten aus dem Wienerwald. The hiking trail - Stage 2
We march back again directly next to the Schwechat downstream to Mayerling. Passing the fateful castle, we walk from here on the long-distance hiking trail (Via Sacra, 01, 06) to Heiligenkreuz. Continuing east, past the Cistercian monastery, and leaving the long-distance trail at the edge of the town. Now we turn right onto the Siegenfeldweg, follow the yellow marking to the White Cross and then come to Rosental and down into the Helenental via the Schwarzberg (blue). Upon reaching the federal road B210, we only walk a short section back up the country road, but immediately turn right next to the Purbach and continue to follow the yellow marking. About 350 m after the Jugendbrunnen, we turn left towards the Theresienwarte (magnificent view). Then we go down to the Rudolfshof and back to the starting point via hiking trail 40.
