Little Explorers of the Thermal Towns

international school cooperation - Great Spa Towns of Europe

In the 2025/26 school year, students from Baden embark on an international journey of discovery as “spa town researchers.” This initiative, launched by the Great Spa Town of Vichy, brings together children and young people from Germany, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Austria, offering them a playful introduction to World Heritage, spa town history, and the English language.

Through drawings, photographs, and videos, the students explore their own World Heritage site and engage in a guided online exchange with peers from other countries.

In Baden, the project involves the Pfarrplatz Primary School (classes 4a and 4b, led by Nicola Makoschitz-Weinreich) as well as the BG & BRG Biondekgasse secondary school (class 2f, led by Petra Moser).

Initial results are already visible: inspired by the World Heritage mugs available at the Tourist Information Office and in Baden’s museums, the fourth-grade students are designing their own concepts for World Heritage plates. Drawings, photographs, and short videos also present Baden from the perspective of the younger generation.

The participating schools are supported by Site Manager Alexandra Harrer, who is responsible for coordinating the project and communicating the World Heritage content.
